Windows SteadyState is a security application for Windows computers. Safety and reliability are a big deal today in shared access computers around the globe. Those computers are used by many people during the same day, and that can create unstable environments for the users. Thus, Microsoft deemed it necessary to provide their solution to the problem. Their solution seems to be to lock the system in a way that everything that you do while you are on the computer will get reverted when you restart it. There are other applications that do this. You set a configuration on your computer, then lock it, and no changes can be made unless an administrator password is provided. Thus, people can do whatever they want on the computer, and those changes will never have effect. If you are the administrator, you can add new applications or make configuration changes at any given time, and those changes will stick. The good thing about this application is that it is made by the people who brought you Windows, so they probably know the operative system well enough to make a good security tool for it. After all, when has Microsoft failed to bring you the peace of mind that you needed?
